Felis has initially modelled PW engines, ostensibly based on the JT9D-7J. Detailed information for the -7J is scarce as hen's teeth. This PFPX file is based on the JT9D-7Q. That's a more powerful version of the engine, with altitude limits around 1000-1500ft higher than for the 7J as a result of the higher thrust, so bear that in mind - please let me have feedback in this thread and I can look to adjust maximum altitudes accordingly if it's a problem. Optimum altitudes shouldn't be much different, there's little variance in fuel burn, you may find based on experience that you want to apply a bias of -1% or -2% on the fuel burn. Different airlines used various climb and descent schedules and I have included as many as I could find from historic manuals from multiple companies, plus there's a wide cruise speed range included. GE and RR files will be coming soon, and variations will be made available once the cargo version is released.

Ok thanks! I have some 7J data but it’s limited on temperature range on climb, and no descent and hold data. Cruise is also very limited, but hey back in the 70s and 80s 1 speed in the book was enough!

Jon,
i think i have what you need and definetely descent, hold and more than one speed for cruise.

Jon,
i sent you 2 drodbox that may help you to change your lack of 7j data ...

Thanks for that Phil. It looks like the engines in sim may be "a little overpowered" so it could be that the 7Q winds up being more appropriate. Hopefully they're not tweaked any more........

lol after few maths issues i can say the tweak between the 7f/7j and the 7q is roughly 6 to 7% in cruise bias.
some beta testers were thinking the pw 7q profile was more than welcome.
i may try to work on profile even with one climb profile only.

Phil, I've already now done a -7J profile with one climb and limited temperatures, but it's not worth wasting further time on it, certainly not until the final product is out and we can see just what performance mashup gets released. It may be that the engines are tweaked even further (hopefully not) which will push the thrust further away from a -7J and even closer to a 7Q.
Some existing company-specific tabulated -7J data seems to have biases already applied, there are variances between what the -7J numbers which different airlines published. That makes sense with operators tuning their flight planning data to match how their own fleet performs.
Like I say I'm not going to put anything more here until the X-Plane aircraft is out.

Hi Rom, no update yet. I guess it needs a review of bias to be applied, the file's bang-on for the -7Q.
