The INS units have now been updated with revised graphics and night/backlighting functionality.

I've got back into the swing of things with Photoshop and here's a set of graphics for the LTN-92 ready for coding once the new unit is released. I hope the datarefs (particularly for the display line definition) are easy to work with.

Some more work on new graphics for the pedestal.

Transitioning the overhead to new graphics is progressing. I think the new-look annunciators are an especially big improvement.

Slow progress, but I'm adding more features in addition to upgrading graphics. Captain and First Officer light controls are now added as popouts which can be displayed or hidden as required. The more I play with Air Manager's panel scripting the more I'm impressed with it's capabilities. Panel lighting controls, autopilot/glareshield and autothrottle panel can be hidden or displayed with different layouts to suit phase of flight for folks with fewer monitors available (of course if you have 7 screens or so to display the cockpit as a full flat screen trainer layout you won't need these features!!). Reworking the overhead and centre MIP as complete instruments is also paying off nicely. An option is to be able to configure one monitor to scroll up or down from overhead through engine instruments, INS/LTN panels and pedestal with simple mouse clicks. I'll have to write a tutorial with panel script functions described so the user can configure to exactly what you need for your cockpit on your own setup, the combinations are endless!

Time's moving fast, another month gone...... I've been away for a week or so, and got some good photo material from a museum 737-200 to help improve that cockpit (check it out here 737-200). However things are moving ahead with the 747-200. You might notice the change here - it's fully coded into Air Manager now (together with the other 2 independent units) and automatically switches with the CIVA based on what's selected in X-Plane.

Was messing today with XTextureExtractor and we've got the weather radar working nicely outside X-Plane. I've just got to add the control knobs and that's another instrument done. The antenna is tilted down to get ground return on the way out of Singapore. Re-working the 742 panel visuals is still underway. The switch guards on the overhead have all been changed, and I'm about to revise some switch images before the overhead gets its night and backlighting effects.

One instrument which I've really not been happy with was the VOR-DME. So today I've done a complete re-work with greatly improved graphics. I'll get it incorporated into the Captain and F/O panels, and then I can also improve the 737 RMI graphics.

I must be mad!!! Over 100 gauges, and I'm not going to count the switches, knobs, buttons and annunciators. Let's see how we go by Christmas ...

Another incremental step is introduction of a Metric Altimeter, in the form of the unit installed by Lufthansa in their 747 Classics. This gauge is independent of the other altimeters, so baro pressure needs to be set individually on this instrument.

Felis has just released an update for X-Plane 12. He now seems to be reasonably confident about the changes needed to tweak the flight model for the new sim.
So I've updated my XP12 installation, and downloaded the latest Felis installation file.
I didn't take the aircraft into the air, but did open up all the panels to check for basic functionality. At first glance the systems seem to work OK, though I need to do a full run-through with the Virtual Flight Engineer. The one issue I've found is with night effects. That's possibly something as simple as new XP12 datarefs, but this does mean that from this point on there will be a divergence between XP11 and XP12 versions, which is something I was hoping to avoid. More investigation to follow.........
UPDATE 18-NOV-22
OK, it's the next day, I've fired up XP12, taken off and I realised I stupidly tried the night effects in XP12 with the one AM panel to which night effects had not been added!! Ambient light and instrument brightness works perfectly with the MIP and pedestal panels, though I may tweak instrument brightness settings - I think Felis has changed things slightly as needed in XP12. I'm flying the aircraft in XP12 now with AM panels open and it's working fine apart from the main and standby altimeters, which are slightly out. The new metric altimeter is spot on. Those should be easy to fix, but so far I'm pleased to say it looks good.
